Acne, pimple, or zit, whatever you may want to call it, is something we do not welcome on our body, more so on our faces. Now, how do we prevent and get rid of these spontaneously-popping-legions-of-self-esteem-degrade-rs? Let us go back to the long forgotten basics of beauty and health.

Inflamed spots appearing over the face, back, neck are major peeves. They are irritating and sometimes painful spots of clogged pores and pus! Though pimples are naturally occurring among adolescents, due to hormonal imbalances, they still manage to stretch their lifespans and plague adulthood. On a more positive note, we should not stress ourselves too much about it since they have their own time of cooling off and finally deciding to disappear. Acne, pimples, zits are self-limiting.

Here’s how you can combat the unwanted guests.

1.Hydrate your face
Cleanliness is the top priority! Wash your face properly but do not get too overly clean by scrubbing it!

2.De-stress. RELAX!
Though its flustering to have these unwanted guests on your face, it is better not to stress too much about it. Anxiety aggravates the condition of some people who have acne problems, you don’t want flare-ups.Relax.

3.No to TEAM PRICK!
Let us avoid invasive procedures! Let us not get eaten by the system, by what others practice for the longest time – the prick and squeeze team. Such actions can result to further complications and dented faces. It can leave marks and scars.

4.Keep it cool.
Avoid too much humidity coupled with heat and excessive perspiration. When it is warm the pores on your face dilate, they OPEN, making them available for bacterial invasion. Bacteria coming from your sweat will enter the pores and can become pimples. You might want to bring with you a clean handkerchief to wipe dry your sweaty face.

5.Good make-up
Always read the label of the cosmetic products you are planning to buy. Go for water-based cosmetics and stay away from oil-based make-ups. Do not forget to remove your make-up no matter how lazy you may get.

6.Food link
It is not certain that food may cause acne flare-ups but if a food becomes a catalyst then avoid it.

7.Lastly
Always wash your hands before touching your face! Simple and doable.

I don’t know what to think about these days. I’ve been reading and writing a lot and I am enjoying it.

27 January 2012. THE TOWER BRIDGE

I’m finally a step closer to my goal. I’m finally here in London. Well, it’s cold and grey but my dreams are bigger and brighter than before. It’s like I have this new blank canvass waiting for me to add colour and draw anything on it with an open and passionate heart. My thoughts nowadays are all about moving forward and keeping the positive energy around me. I always wake up in a cold morning but my desires and dreams warm my soul. The warmth I need to keep me moving on. I’d definitely learn a lot in this place; learn new things that I hope will make me a better person one day. Everything is a struggle at first but with a strong heart I know I’ll make it through. Like a mighty tower, I’ll endure.

A shipwreck by the beach. I don’t understand how a broken vessel managed to look good on a photograph. I’d like to believe that everything - broken or not - tells a story and that is enough to exude beauty.

Oton, Iloilo 2011

A child looking for something beneath the bamboo-made contraption. The said contraption is not a small boat for fishing. It is actually used by the locals to trap small fish - so minute I couldn’t even see them at all.

I’m beginning to love how cycling makes me break a sweat. I started cycling today and will surely continue on the days to come.
